WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-DC (OWWA) showcased the Philippine government’s Reintegration and Financial Literacy programs through a back-to- back webinar with the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA) and TESDA last June 11 and June 18, 2022.
“We are holding this webinar series with the aim of empowering our OFWs and helping them prepare for a better future for their families. It is the government’s thrust to provide our OFWs with the support and intervention to enable them to reintegrate successfully into our country”, Welfare Officer Mae D. Codilla pointed out.
Acting Deputy Director of the Economic and Financial Learning Office, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Sarah L. Padilla before her presentation said, “Thank you to POLO-Washington DC for inviting the BSP, giving us this opportunity to share our Financial Education Initiatives para sa ating mga OFWs at sa kanilang mga pamilya na maaring makatulong sa kanila, sa kanilang pagbabalik Pilipinas at sa kanilang eventual retirement”.
On June 25, 2022, OFWs in the Caribbean Islands hailed POLO-WDC for the success of its 2nd virtual one-stop-shop featuring Philhealth, Pag-IBIG, SSS, TESDA, Overseas Filipino Bank, Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), and OWWA.
“May mga Pilipino nanaman po sa British Virgin Islands na natulungan para masagot ang mga katanungan nila sa SSS, Pag-IBIG, OWWA, OF Bank at Philhealth. Napaka sarap po makausap ang mga representatives from these agencies dahil willing po sila masagot lahat ng tanong namin at naramdaman namin na bukal sa loob nila na matulungan ang katulad namin na mga OFW.Sana maulit po ulit para Mas marami pa po masagot na katanungan.Huwag po Sana magsawa ang mga taga POLO WDC sa pag-organize nito”, Ms. Cherrydel Caday of the British Virgin Islands said.
Another OFW also commented, “I got my concern expedited and my other questions answered. Appreciate all that you do. It’s my first to join this webinar and glad that I did. Daming natutunan. Will surely join other webinars you organised in the future.”
