The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO-WDC), with the assistance of the Filipino Community leaders in the different Caribbean Islands, gathered OFWs last May 21, 2022 for a virtual forum to provide information on the verification of employment documents for the Balik-Manggagawa workers and on the new POEA Online Processing System for Balik-Manggagawa (POPSBaM). This is a follow-through to the first POPS-BaM webinar held last February for OFWs in the British Virgin Islands.

The webinar was attended by 96 participants who are currently employed in the different sectors/industries in the Bermuda, Cayman Islands, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

POLO-WDC point person for verification Oliver Flores presented the different requirements and procedures for the verification of employment contracts for each category of professional/skilled workers and domestic workers.

On the other hand, POEA ICT Chief, George Parlan, extensively discussed the registration procedure as well as the issues and concerns with the new POPS-BaM. Together with Director Ken Sarmiento, they answered all the OEC inquiries of the workers, while Labor Attaché Trinidad answered inquiries on the verification process.

The webinar was held as an answer to the requests of OFWs for assistance on the new POEA system during the consular missions in the Bermuda and Cayman Islands last April.
