The  Philippine Embassy through the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), held a virtual celebration of OFW Family Day in Washington DC on 18 December 2020 by organizing Kantata sa Embahada, which was a Christmas carol singing contest featuring children of the Filipino communities under the POLO’s jurisdiction.

Last year, POLO also upgraded – and modernized – the contest by expanding participation to include an adult category, as well as a Tik Tok version, the “Online Kan-TikTok Sa Embahada (Kantata at TikTok sa Embahada),”

The event was in partnership with The Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Metro Washington DC (PACC DC), and the virtual nature of the contest allowed broader participation, including from contestants representing various families and communities in the Caribbean.

The winners were the following:

Kids Category: IMF Pinoy Kids (1st Prize), Team Salting (2nd Prize) and Brion Brothers (3rd Prize)

Adult Category: Quarentados ’82 (1st Prize), D’Campoers (2nd Prize) and Mommy and Maddie (3rd Prize)

TikTok Category: IMF Pinoy Kids (1st Prize), Kristoff Innocentes (2nd Prize) and April Duallo (3rd Prize)

The board of judges for the finals were Professor Emmanuel De Leon, Deputy Chief of Mission Renato Pedro Villa and Executive Director for Global Strategic Partnership of Pilipino Workers Center (PCW).
